Understanding the Cards You use the following four decks of cards while playing Charades For Dummies: Charades cards: These have the words
on them that the players act out. On each side of the card there are two,
three, or four words. On your turn, take the card that's in front, then
turn it over (so no other players can see the words!) and act out the
words, one at a time, on that side. When you're done, place the card in
the back of the deck.
Playing the Game 1.The first player draws the first Charades card, turns it over and acts out the first word on the card. DO NOT reveal to the other players how many words are on your card. Note: Players can use body movements
(including traditional actions like pulling your ear lobe for "sounds like")
and facial
2. All the other players shout out what word they believe this player is acting out. Note: If no one guesses the word in a reasonable amount of time(as determined by the players), the player acting must skip the word and move his pawn back one space. 3. When a player guesses correctly, the player that was acting confirms the correct guess. The correct guesser immediately moves their pawn ahead one space. The acting player now moves to the next word on the card, and so on. Note: If two or more players shout out the correct answer at the same time, they both advance. Hint: If your pawn is just one space away from a Warning! Space and the actor has already finished a charade or two, you may decide to NOT guess the next charade. That way you can try to avoid landing on a Warning! space. Sometimes it's better to wait until a new actor is up, so you have a better chance of moving past a Warning! Space. 4. After the actor finishes acting out all the words on the card, the acting round is over. 5. All players who advanced their pawns now check to see if they are on a special space on the board. Starting with the player to the left of the actor, players draw the top card from the deck corresponding to the special space they are on and follow the instructions on the card. After you've completed the action, place the card at the bottom of the deck. This round is now completely over and the player to the left of the actor draws a new Charades card and begins to act out the top word on the card, starting the new round. Play continues as before.
